Indian fasting recipe:


  •  Sabudana(Sago) khichadi:
  • Ingredients:
  •  Sago 1 cup, 
  • Pure ghee 1 table spoon, 
  • Crushed roasted peanuts,
  •  Grated fresh coconut 1 tablespoon, 
  • Salt 1 teaspoon, 
  • Sugar 1 teaspoon,
  •  Ginger paste 1 teaspoon,
  •  1 potato boiled, 
  • 4/5 green chilies, 
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice, 
  • Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoons
  • Procedure:
  • wash sago and drain water. 
  •  Add 1/4  cup water and soak sago for 6 hours or overnight. 
  •  After 6 hours firstly make an half inch pieces of green chilies
  • Crush roughly roasted peanuts. 
  • Boil and peel potato.
  •  Make pieces.
  • In a large bowl transfer sago.
  •  Add salt, sugar, crushed peanuts, grated coconut, ginger paste and mix well.
  •  Keep the pan on medium flame. 
  • Add ghee. 
  •  Then add cumin seeds.
  •  Once cumin seeds crackle add green chilies and potato pieces.  
  • Adjust law flame.
  •  Add a pinch of salt on potato pieces, stir for 1 minute.
  •  Add sago mixture.
  • Add lemon juice. 
  • Keep stirring. 
  • Keep lid for for 5 minutes .  
  • Cook until sago becomes transparent.  
  • Serve hot with finely chopped fresh coriander leaves and yogurt.
