Pineapple Preserve(muramba)


This is one of the traditional procedure of preserving fruits without any preservative!
 Pineapple Preserve is most popular and tasty Maharashtrian recipe.




 Ingredients:

  • 1 just ripe pineapple,
  • Sugar
  • 5 cloves 
  • cardamom powder 1 teaspoon
  • Procedure:
  • Wash the pineapple.
  • Remove outer skin and white thick stalk.
  • Chop remaining edible part into small pieces.
  • I got 2 cups pieces of pineapple.
  • Keep pineapple pieces in a cooker pot and cook for ten minutes.
  • Wait until pressure settles down.
  • In a big pan add 2 cups sugar, one cup water,cloves.
  • Keep on medium flame.
  • when all sugar melts add pineapple pieces.
  • Boil the mixture until one thread consistency.
  • Cook until mixture becomes just like honey.
  • Add cardamom powder, mix well.
  • Let it cool for an hour.
  • Store the pineapple preserve in a dry glass jar.
