Bottle gourd curry

Bottle gourd curry:



  • Ingredients: 
  • 3 cups peeled  bottle gourd cubes, 
  • 1 tablespoon oil, 
  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds,
  •  1/4 teaspoon hing powder, 
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilly powder, 
  • 2 table spoons grated fresh coconut, 
  • salt 1/2 teaspoon, 
  • jaggery 1 teaspoon,
  •  curry leaves 4/5,
  •   water.
  • Procedure: 
  • wash and peel bottle gourd.
  •   If seeds  are soft use them in the curry. 
  • Cut bottle gourd into small cubes. 
  •  Heat oil in a pan. 
  • Add mustard seeds, hing powder and turmeric powder. 
  • Add  chopped bottle gourd and curry leaves.
  •  Stir well.
  •  Add one cup of water. 
  • Keep lid and cook for ten minutes on  low  flame.
  •  When bottle gourd becomes transparent add salt, jaggery and red chilly powder.
  •  Add grated coconut and stir well.
  •  Boil for two minutes. 
  • Adjust as per your taste. 
  • Serve hot with chapati.
